We are within 5 miles of the following attractions:

  • Crawford County Fair boasts the largest agricultural fair in Pennsylvania!  Don't miss it the great, top notch Nashville talent concerts!

  • Erie National Wildlife Refuge is just 5 miles from the campground and has over 8700 acres.  You may even see their nesting bald eagles!  You can drive around and through it, hike the trails and boardwalks, and see 237 species of migratory birds, and other wildlife.

  • Miller's Green House is just a couple of miles away (between the campground & town) and offers a greenhouse with plants, flowers, and Amish-made wood log furniture, sheds, and more!

  • Miller's Country Store is at the Corner of Rt, 27 & Townline Road (when headed to Meadville - past Miller's Green House) which offers fresh seasonal produce, Amish made canned and baked goods, a deli, dry goods, and more!

  • Mount Hope Golf Course is just 5 miles from the campground.  Kids play for free after 5:00 pm at Mount Hope!  (But ONLY if you tell them Brookdale Campground sent you!)

  • Tamarack Lake boasts great fishing just minutes from the campground!

  • Stonycrick Kayak & Canoe Rentals, Meadville PA.  Call 814-626-1114 for advance reservations.  Reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance.

  •  

   We are within 10 - 15 miles of the following attractions:

  • Tattered Corners Book Store!  Exchange your paperbacks for a different one and $1.00!  It's a great deal!  Check 'em out!  They are located at 247 Chestnut Street Meadville, PA 16335.  Phone: (814) 337-7975.  

  • The Baldwin-Reynolds House is the museum home of United States Supreme Court Justice Henry Baldwin.  

  • Crawford County Genealogy  if your looking for your ancestors from Crawford County this is the place to look!  

  • John Brown Farm in Pre-Civil War Crawford County, Pennsylvania, the farm of the great abolitionist John Brown played a strategic role in the Underground Railroad. Disbursing "depots" in the area, John Brown aided in the passing of an estimated 2,500 slaves. In the town of New Richmond, his farm and tannery was a major stop on the Railroad, marking its place in history from 1825 to 1835. The farm, now a museum, proves to be an educational, exhilarating experience as you learn more about this great man of history and his many heroic efforts. Tour the remnants of the tannery and take a walking path to the cemetery. (Wear comfortable walking shoes.)  Plan a visit during the first weekend in May, and you can share in the "Spirit of Freedom" picnic, a community celebration in honor of John Brown's birthday (May 9). There is also a gift shop allowing visitors to take a piece of that experience with them to cherish for a lifetime. Open from April 15 to October 15, and in the winter by appointment only.

  • The Ernst Trail in Meadville has miles of local bike trails that can be used for hiking or biking!  They are within an easy drive (~9 miles)!  

  • Thurston Classic Hot Air Balloon Event held at Robertson Field, Allegheny College Sports Complex Hot on Fathers Day Weekend each year!  The air balloon event features approx. 30 balloons and a  fantastic night glow.  For further information call 814-336-4000.

  • Woodcock Creek & Dam  is in nearby Saegertown PA has a paved two-mile loop on the dam great for inline skating and running. Hike the Multi-Use Trail and Bossard Nature Trail.  You can fish, canoe, and swim in the lake. 

  • Memory Lane Jewelry carries the finest in jewelry and collectibles!  Whether you're looking for a one of a kind custom piece or a special gift for that special someone, they have it at Memory Lane.  They have big city styles at small town prices!     

  We are within 20 miles of the following attractions:

  • 14 Golf Courses are all within an easy drive!  Within Crawford County's golf courses golfers are sure to find more tee times and a challenging course for any level player!  

  • Conneaut Lake Amusement Park!  Reopened in 2009!  Visit this old time, days gone by amusement park, "Where The Past Becomes The Future!"     

  • Conneaut Lake & Resort Area is Pennsylvania's largest natural lake and home to the PA record for Muskellunge at 54 lbs. 3 oz!

  • Conneaut Cellars Winery is open year round, 7 days, 10am - 6pm.  Free tours & tasting!

  • Canadohta Lake is Pennsylvania's Second Largest Natural Lake in Beautiful Crawford County.

  • Pioneer Steam & Gas Engine Society featuring steel wheeled and hand cranked tractors!  

   We are within 30 miles of the following attractions:

  • Allegheny Geo Trail!  Geocaching (pronounced “geo-cashing’) is a great family activity!  This adventure sport/hobby involves the use of a handheld GPS receiver, and based on information provided on geocaching.com.  The Allegheny GeoTrail is perhaps the largest of its kind, encompassing ten counties throughout northwestern   and north-central Pennsylvania. Within each county are between 10 and 20 designated geocaches which make   up the “trail”. The    quest to find these caches will take participants throughout the rugged and scenic land of   the Allegheny National Forest and its surrounding gateway   counties.  (It's a modern Day Treasure Hunt!)  Find  six or more caches within a county, and earn that county's unique geocoin.  Find six caches in each of all ten counties, and earn a special geocoin that represents the entire trail. See the rules for how to go about finding   the caches and claiming your coins!    

  • Drake Oil Well!  Come see where the industry that puts a drop of oil in your life every day was born.  A steam engine whistle calls you to the replica of Edwin Drake's 1859 engine house, where oil from the famous well flows into a "never filling" barrel. Follow squeaking rod lines to learn how pioneer oil workers used one engine to pump many wells. They invented a whole new industry.  Don't forget your camera!  Feed plastic apples to "Ed and Dan" in the Oil Transportation building as you wait for the Nitro truck to explode. Walk the path along Oil Creek to the Oil Pits where Native Americans collected oil even before Columbus came to the new world. You might see bald eagles fishing for trout in the creek.
    Listen to stories of life in oil boomtown days told by videos, tour guides, working antique machinery, and historic buildings. Smell oil from wells around the world. Make plastic. Play old fashion games. Wear your sneakers. Bring your bike. And pack a picnic lunch.  Museum GROUNDS open year round: Outdoor exhibits operate May through October. 

  • Oil Creek State Park is the site of the world’s first commercial oil well. Oil Creek State Park tells the story of the early petroleum industry by interpreting oil boomtowns, oil wells and  early transportation. Scenic Oil Creek carves a valley of deep hollows, steep hillsides and wetlands.

  • Pymatuning Lake Spillway is Pennsylvania's largest manmade lake!  The Pymatuning Spillway in Linesville PA is "where the ducks walk on the fishes backs"!  You've never seen anything like it! 

  • Rails-to-Trails in Titusville boasts miles of local bike trails that can be used for hiking or biking!  We have tunnels, bridges, and more!  They are within an easy drive of Brookdale!

  • The Titusville and Oil Creek Railroad provides the history of oil "In the valley that changed the world"!  As featured  on the History Channel! 

  • Tri-city Speedway is H&H Motorsport's local, Sunday night race track!  See their website for schedule, prices, and action packed racing fun!   

  • Wooden Nickel Buffalo Farm is a working buffalo farm!  You can visit it, attend events, buy meat, and more!

We are within 40 miles of the following attractions:

  • Erie's Maritime Museum is the homeport of The U.S. Brig Niagara, Erie Maritime Museum presents the story of The Niagara as the reconstructed flagship of Pennsylvania and the warship that won the Battle of Lake Erie in the War of 1812!  Offering a wide range of multi-media and interactive exhibits and coupled with lively interpretive programs, Erie Maritime Museum vividly illustrates  Niagara's history and the region's rich maritime heritage.

  • Grove City Prime Outlets is a sprawling line-up of modern buildings with busy sidewalks sports large signs that advertise all of your favorite brands, from J. Crew, to Nike, to Sony.

  • Lake Erie Lake Erie is the smallest of the Great Lakes in volume (119 cubic miles) and is exposed to the greatest  effects from urbanization and agriculture. Measuring 241 miles across and 57 miles from north to south, the lake's surface is just under 10,000 square miles, with 871 miles of shoreline. The average depth of Lake Erie is only about 62 feet (210 feet, maximum). It therefore warms rapidly in the spring and summer, and frequently freezes over in winter. The drainage basin covers parts of Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York and Ontario. Because of its' fertile soils, the basin is intensively farmed and is the most densely populated of the five lake basins.

  • Presque Isle Downs & Casino is Erie's newest attraction and state-of-the-art Casino & Horse Racing!  Over 2,000   slot machines!  Open daily from 9am - 4 am.  They'll leave the slots on for you!

  • Presque Isle Park, Biking Trail, & Beaches is a day-use park that provides year-round recreational opportunities.  Over fifteen miles of trails appeal to hikers, bicyclists, and cross-country skiers. Presque Isle offers swimming, boating, fishing and beautiful sandy beaches to its summer visitors.

  • The New Tom Ridge Center is Located at the entrance to Presque Isle Park!  TREC offers visitors an insight to what then can expect to experience at Presque Isle State Park and the surrounding Great Lakes Region.  Combining a state-of-the-art “green” facility with interactive exhibits, entertaining films, rotating exhibits, specialized programs, lectures, classroom education, research, dining, shopping and Artists in residence, will  always find TREC an exciting place to visit.  Fun for all ages! 

  • Waldameer Amusement Park is a beautiful family fun amusement and water park complex, Waldameer and Water World features scores of amusement park rides, magnificent water park slides, live shows, modern arcade, traditional midway games, food and refreshment centers, souvenir and gift shops, and numerous picnic groves all surrounded by gorgeous landscaped grounds.  We sell discount tickets to our camping customers!
